BEHIND THE FINISHED HOME

A clear path.
At every stage.

Every project has its own conditions. This sequence shows the decisions and coordination behind a typical residential installation.

01

Discovery & scope

Understand the home, the drawings, and the way you want to use each room. Decide priorities and scope. Next: coordinate the system design.

02

Design & coordination

Coordinate device locations, lighting, shades, wiring, and equipment space with your project team. Confirm fixture compatibility and shade pockets before rough-in. Next: install the infrastructure.

03

Rough-in & prewire

Install the infrastructure while walls and ceilings are accessible. Confirm circuit, cable, and device locations before finishes. Next: fit the selected equipment and trim.

04

Installation & trim

Fit fixtures, controls, shades, speakers, and equipment. Confirm finishes, alignment, and access. Next: program scenes and test the systems.

05

Programming & testing

Set scenes and room controls. Test the installed systems together. Review lighting levels, shade positions, and entertainment behavior. Next: walk through operation with the owner.

06

Owner walkthrough

Explain the controls, review the programmed scenes, and hand over the home. Confirm everyday use and documentation. Next: use the systems and identify any adjustments.

A SHARED PLAN

FOR HOMEOWNERS

Understand the choices.

Start with the rooms you use most. Note where you want better light, privacy, music, or simpler controls. Share your project city, current stage, and any existing equipment when you get in touch.

FOR BUILDERS & DESIGNERS

Coordinate the details.

Bring the current drawings and project schedule. Discuss device locations, fixture compatibility, shade pockets, cable routes, and equipment access before finishes are fixed. Confirm who supplies each item and which trade owns each decision.

Before we talk

Can you help with general electrical work?

Yes. SteelWing provides residential and commercial electrical work, including wiring, repairs, panels and service upgrades, outlets and circuits, lighting installation, EV chargers, and generator electrical installations. You can contact us for electrical work on its own or as part of a larger integrated project.

Can an existing home be updated?

The options depend on existing wiring, equipment, access, and the changes you want to make. Tell us what is already installed and which rooms matter most so the conversation starts with your home.

Can the work be planned in phases?

Discuss the end goal before choosing a first phase. Cable routes, equipment space, and compatibility can affect later additions. Scope and sequencing need to be agreed for your project.

What should the project team decide early?

Review lighting and control locations, shade pockets, speaker positions, equipment access, and supply responsibilities. Identify which choices must be settled before walls, ceilings, or cabinetry close.

What should be covered at handover?

Ask about everyday controls, programmed scenes, system documentation, warranty contacts, and how to request adjustments. Confirm the training, documentation, and ongoing support included in the agreed scope.
