COASTAL ORANGE COUNTY · WIRING & REWIRING

The wiring behind a space that works.

New rooms, a remodel, or an existing property with changing needs. Plan the electrical wiring around the equipment you use, the access available, and the way the finished space should function.

DECISIONS THAT SHAPE THE WORK

Plan the routes. Then the finishes.

Electrical scope connects to layout, equipment choices, and construction access. Settle those decisions together so the wiring supports the finished project.

01

Existing conditions

Review the circuits and devices serving the affected area, available panel capacity, and access above ceilings or beneath floors. Explain any recurring problem and what changed before it began. The scope may be a focused repair, a new circuit, or a broader replacement; that decision follows the assessment.

02

Rooms and equipment

Identify appliance locations, work areas, lighting, and equipment that may need dedicated power. Bring equipment information when available. Plan outlets, switches, and control locations against the furniture and cabinetry layout before those positions become difficult to change.

03

Construction sequence

Coordinate wiring with demolition, framing, other trades, and finish work. Agree which areas need access, who handles patching, and when power interruptions can occur. For occupied properties, discuss whether work can be organized by room or area while retaining the complete scope.

BEFORE WE TALK

Useful details to bring.

  • Project city and whether the property is occupied.
  • Rooms affected, current drawings, or a marked-up floor plan.
  • Equipment being added and any known electrical symptoms.
  • Construction timing, access restrictions, and planned finish work.

DEFINE THE HANDOFF

Know what changed.

Agree on circuit identification, device locations, testing, and the documentation included in the job. For a phased project, identify which future additions have been allowed for and which require separate work.

Wiring & rewiring: planning questions

Does a remodel always require a full rewire?

The scope depends on the existing installation, the changes being made, and what the assessment finds. Describe the areas being remodeled and the intended equipment so the wiring work can be evaluated as part of that project.

Can wiring be installed without opening every wall?

Access varies by property. Attics, crawlspaces, open framing, and existing routes can affect the options. Discuss access and finish restoration during the site review instead of assuming a particular route will be available.

What if the problem is limited to one outlet or circuit?

Tell us where the problem occurs and when it happens. SteelWing also handles troubleshooting, repairs, outlets, and circuits. The initial conversation can identify the right service path without assuming a larger rewiring project.
